The holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean the pretty clothing has to go by the wayside! Winter wardrobes can start to feel a bit drab when the cold weather persists, but adding some embellishments to your basics is an easy way to update your look.
Sure I’m wearing a black shirt and jeans, but the black shirt is actually a velvet bodysuit with a sweetheart neckline and the jeans have gradients of pearls! So not basic. Yet so easy.
I’m new to the bodysuit game and found out that since I’m tall I needed to order a size large to accommodate my height. (No one wants to battle a consistent wedgie! I’m 5’10” for reference.) This long-sleeve, velvet bodysuit is a 90’s girl’s dream come true with it’s perfectly-proportioned puffy shoulders. It pairs great with any kind of bottom and is beautiful under blazers and jackets.
I also really like this lace-up version and this bodysuit with a button detail neckline. Velvet is such a gorgeous fabric and lends itself to to a luxe look perfect for colder temperatures. And although I don’t know how warm this asymmetrical cold-shoulder top will keep you, the crushed velvet sure is stunning.
Embellished denim is definitely on trend this season and although I normally don’t go for light-wash jeans, or trending denim since it can be a pricey purchase, I just couldn’t resist these pretty pants. I love how the pearls descend down the hips of these jeans adding an element of surprise. They were perfect for holiday get-togethers, are fun to dress up winter wear and these pearl-embellished jeans will transition beautifully into Spring. I can already picture them with pretty tops and sandals.
Unfortunately my exact pair of jeans is sold out but I found a similar pair at a really affordable price point! (Which makes it easy to try the trend.) This light wash, relaxed fit pair is also really pretty for off-duty styling, as is this distressed straight leg pair. These ultra-embellished jeans make a true statement. And this cool grey denim looks really cool with the splattering of pearls.
Ballet flats never go out of style and while my exact pair is a few years old, J.Crew has a really similar pair in the iced peach color. They also have a classic block-heeled pair. Both are in stock in a lot of sizes.
And if you follow me on Instagram or read my blog, you may have noticed my classic black crossbody has been in heavy rotation this winter as seen here and here. I have the Rebecca Minkoff jumbo which can be found here, here and here.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
