48 Hours in Pittsburgh

Biergarten, fashion, Pittsburgh, summer, travel

As I mentioned in a post earlier this week, Scott and I traveled to Pittsburgh, PA for a wedding last weekend.  We arrived just in time to hit up a rooftop beer garden   with pretzels bigger than my head before heading to the welcome reception.

The reception was held at the top of Mount Washington, which overlooks Pittsburgh.  We took an old trolley car which was originally used to hoist coal and which opened in 1877 up the mount!  The Duquesne Incline is a great way to see the picturesque “City of Bridges” below.

The reception was hosted at LeMont Restaurant, which had incredible views of the city.  It’s one of the restaurants on top of Mount Washington and the views of the Pittsburgh skyline are not to be missed!  The beautiful bride, Nikki, is pictured below with all of the girls from Denver.

On the Saturday we attempted to go kayaking on the North Shore near PNC Park – home of The Pirates – but unfortunately the line was much too long and we would have missed the wedding.  (Note: For anyone traveling to Pittsburgh, this looks worthwhile so arrive early!) Instead we did a walking tour over the 6th Street Bridge which displays love locks similar to the (in)famous Pont de Arts in Paris.  We then made our way to Market Square to enjoy a couple of cold ones on a patio before getting ready for the wedding.

The following morning we enjoyed a post-wedding brunch to relive the festivities of the night before at The Commoner in The Hotel Monaco.  Grapefruit mimosas anyone!?

Scott and I were able to tour even more of the city before heading to the airport. My Patterns & Pops romper made the sweltering heat somewhat bearable for our walking adventures.  The strapless romper is a perfect outfit for walking around in the sunshine… no unwanted tan lines!  The bright cerulean blue with intricate pattern and pops of yellow is the perfect combination.  Bonus points for having pockets!
