Vail, Colorado

We spent this past weekend in Vail, Colorado.  It snowed pretty much the entire time we were there which made it all that more magical.  It was the perfect mini-getaway, just me and the hubs.

On Saturday morning we went snow shoeing just outside of Vail.  It was my first time and it was so much fun, and to be honest quite a work out!  We were the only ones venturing out on the Booth Falls Trail and it was beautiful trekking along in the fresh snow.

To replenish our strength after our morning of outdoor activity, we ate lunch at Mountain Standard, a cozy, chalet chic restaurant along the creek in Vail Village.  The rustic atmosphere and the wood fire over which they cook most of their food really creates a comfortable experience where patrons dressed in snow gear (us included) can enjoy an elevated, warm meal.

I’ve been loving my new buffalo plaid cardigan.  The marled plaid is the perfect pattern for the season.  It’s lightweight enough to wear as a sweater, yet warm enough to wear as a coat!  I picked it up at the new June Ruby store in Northfield Stapleton (which you have to check out), but it’s also available here and here.   I paired it with a grey felt fedora – perfect for keeping the falling snow off of my face, basic black boots, my classic red bag and a bright lip.  I also recently wore this plaid cardigan with a plaid scarf as seen in this Instagram post.  You can say I’m mad for plaid!

A few of our other favorite restaurants to visit while in Vail are La Bottega for great Italian, Lancelot Restaurant for delicious steakhouse fare and brunch at the Westside Café.   And a trip to Vail wouldn’t be complete without a stop in The Red Lion to après, enjoy some live music or watch a game in the midst of a lively crowd!
