The hubby and I had a date night at one of our favorite Italian restaurants and on the walk over we came across an abundance of sunflowers in someone’s yard.  It was lovely and reminded me of my time in Kansas, where I went to college.

This army-green Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent maxi always makes me laugh, since I bought it on a whim after a bottomless mimosa brunch in Chicago with Katie of Kel & Kate (Check out the duo’s fashion and lifestyle blog based in The Windy City.)  The champagne helped to waive my sticker shock when I bought the dress and luckily I’ve never experienced any buyer’s remorse!  This dress is extremely versatile and can be easily dressed up or down.  I’ve worn it to brunch, on date nights, to a beach wedding, on a cruise around NYC… the options are endless.  Heels and hoops to dress it up.  Flats and perhaps a belt to pair it down.  The dress is simply chic and quite luxurious since it’s made of silk and yet it works well as a basic.  It’s a dream to wear since it’s so comfortable.  Army green is one of my go-to colors year round, so this dress definitely hits the mark!

For this particular outing I paired the maxi with an ancient Lord & Taylor straw clutch that I bought in high school, dainty gold jewelry, some gold sandals and a low pony wrapped in a braid.
