We attended a black tie wedding this past weekend at one of my favorite hotels in Denver, The Brown Palace. (You may have seen the classic hotel on the blog before, as it’s the hotel that holds the annual Champagne Cascade, each year to kick off the holiday season.) I love a good reason to dress up… and Zach and Michelle’s winter wedding was the perfect excuse to really go for it!
I wore a beautiful one-shouldered gown for the celebration. The moody floral in red and black crepe was perfect for the occasion. The print is really beautiful and the full skirt was so fun to dance the night away in. I actually found it on Rent the Runway! I’ve used RTR for several events and it’s such a easy way to borrow something new for a special occasion without breaking the bank. I always worry that I won’t get enough use out of occasion dresses, especially if I spend a lot of money. I mean who wants to wear the same dress over and over again when you can have something new to wear to each event?! Plus I love that you can rent styles you wouldn’t necessarily buy! But if you just can’t live without your very own, I found an extremely similar version by Carmen Marc Valvo Couture. It’s stunning. More sizes here. I also found a ravishing red gown with beautiful embellishment at the waist, and a more modern-fit dress with an asymmetrical neckline with a cap-sleeve cutout and slit that would both be show stoppers for a formal event.
One of my best friends is a hairstylist and did my hair for the wedding while we sipped mimosas. (Yes, sometimes I pay her in champagne!) She had the fun idea to do a messy fishtail half-up style which I thought turned out really cool and showed off my delicate Kendra Scott earrings (which also come in rose gold, silver and black).
The photo booth with a gold sequin backdrop was very glam and we really had so much fun! I think we got a little snap-happy because not only were we asked by the attendant to give other guests a turn but I came home with quite the stack of entertaining 4×6 prints. I have to say I’ve been to my fair share of weddings, and this photo booth was one of the best I’ve seen with studio lighting and a push button so you can take your own photos. For any Denver girls who are getting married or planning an event be sure to check out Bamboo Booth!
