From 1920’s to Thirty

This past weekend one of my best girlfriends turned thirty and we celebrated her next decade in roaring twenties style.  I’ve been friends with most of these girls since high school (one of them since first grade), so it’s really special to celebrate all of our important milestones together!

We started the celebration by getting our makeup done at the Bobbi Brown makeup counter in Nordstrom – a tradition for every homecoming, prom, and big event since we were in high school.  It’s such a fun thing to do with your girlfriends and instead of paying to just get your makeup done, you are required to buy $50 worth of product… sooooo basically you’re saving money getting your makeup done – especially since I use their products anyway.  I love trying new products and walked away with my favorite liquid eyeliner, a new cream eyeshadow stick and this correcting wand.  We had so much fun with the team of makeup artists who beautified us!

We proceeded to get ready for her Great Gatsby themed party at Hotel Teatro as seen here on my Instagram.  We booked a room with a patio overlooking downtown which was perfect since this crazy warm weather we’ve been enjoying in Denver and which served as an awesome back drop for some pictures.

I had my dress from an event I went to a few years ago but my friends found awesome flapper dresses on Amazon of all places!  (I am addicted to Amazon Prime.  They have EVERYthing including this headpiece that we literally all accidentally bought but didn’t all wear because matching that much would be ridiculous. LOL)  The birthday girl wore this fringed dress, and I found a few other fun options here and here.  I wore a pair of red t-strap peep toes that I bought almost a decade ago (yikes!) but found a similar red pair with pearls, this affordable bejeweled pair, and this awesome pink suede splurge pair.  These Banana Republic fringed sandals are another fun option and unfortunately are sold out, but similar pairs can be found here, here and here.

To kick the evening off we dined at The Nickel at the base of Hotel Teatro.  We hadn’t even planned to partake in the Denver Restaurant Week deal but couldn’t pass it up.  It was such a fun dinner with old friends, our men and lots and lots of bubbly as seen here.

Then we shimmied the night away in our flapper fringe at The Roosevelt which is such a cute 1920’s bar with a speakeasy vibe.  It has walls lined with bookcases and a secret door to the restroom. The Roosevelt has a ton of craft cocktails, though I stuck to champagne since I abiding by a self-imposed rule to only drink wine and beer while I am nursing Carter.  I figure hard alcohol is stronger and will take longer to work it’s way out of my system before I breastfeed… makes sense right?!

I’m so excited for all of the coming celebrations this year as we turn thirty one by one.  Here’s to the next decade with my squad.  Happy International Women’s Day!
