Mother’s Day is also this coming weekend and this year the holiday has an extra special meaning to me as I’m carrying my first child. Pregnancy has really made me appreciate the sacrifice and love of a mother, even for an unborn child. The love I feel is already beyond anything I could have expected and I can only imagine how much that will intensify when our little one is here. I’m excited to hold my baby boy, to welcome him into our crazy family, to teach him the ways of the world and to appreciate the little things, and to find out what kind of mother I will be. I’ve found a lot of inspiration from the women in my family, friends who’ve recently had children and in this sweet post from a fellow, first-time mother-to-be praising her mother’s demonstration of love in the everyday.
I’m hosting Mother’s Day brunch to treat my mom and Grammy to a morning of gratitude, presents and this yummy breakfast casserole. And I’m so excited that Love of Character has helped me to show how you can easily turn your afternoon Derby Party supplies into a simple, elegant Mother’s Day brunch. You can use your leftover plates, add some new gold-splattered napkins, color blocked paper cups, and this adorable teapot flower vase and Viola! a brunch that will make mom smile. For some special Mother’s Day touches you can also order her a pretty card, a Little Box of Character gift box, and even the perfect mug to serve her coffee in. Love of Character really is your one stop shop for your party needs! Make sure to get your orders in quickly, so Mary can ship them out in time for your weekend soirees!
Seriously how adorable is this ^^ coffee mug?!? I think I need to add it to my collection!
This hot pink dress is the perfect item to break out for such events. The vibrant pink is bright enough for Spring and can easily match with any color of Derby hat. I’m loving my baby bump, but sometimes it can be difficult to dress, and the shirred sides of this dress make it oh-so comfortable and flattering which will be a must as whip up brunch in the kitchen. Plus a sleeveless dress is perfect for the unpredictable Spring weather in Colorado, as it easily lends it self to layering. Grab a pair of well-loved espadrilles (similar here) and a ladylike crossbody (similar here) for running around.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and yours!
